The number of wine-related web sites of all kinds has always been impressive, so it's no surprise that videos about wine are also growing rapidly in number. It takes a certain kind of obsession or a very high level of curiosity to search for, download and finally watch most of these. For a convenient portal to the best wine video resources out there, click to the Wine Video Watch page on WineLoversPage.com.
Google, Yahoo and YouTube have made it so easy to find video that you can do it without aditional tools or software. If you want to really explore what's on offer though, what you need is an
aggregator.
iTunes (free download) is an aggregator. There are many feed aggregators out there but
Get Democracy has a built in viewer and a channel paradigm that seems more intuitive than most.
Go to http://www.getdemocracy.com/ and look for the obvious download link. Their player is available for Windows, Mac and linux. It will help you build your own list of channels on any subjects of interest including wine. Below, you see what the Channel Guide looks like when you have installed Get Democracy. Notice how it found WineLibrary TV and the Chateau Palmer "PalmerCast" series as well as an Artiste channel, all of these we've told you about here on WineLoversPage.com:

The Get Democracy player contains a channel guide and some pre-configured channels. You can search Google, Yahoo, YouTube and Blogger for channels or subscribe by adding any feed address you discover in your eternal quest for new wine related viewing.
Independent wine information sites
One of the more interesting video sources is this cable-access like show from a wine store. The series features tasting and a very personal way of describing what the tastes are. Must be seen to be appreciated:

Winery sites with video
Château Palmer has always been one of the most forward-looking of the great Bordeaux wines. They have decided to allow you to see very short excerpts of what goes on during the year and see some of the people who work to make the wine what it is. Rather than talking head interviews, most of the video is shot in situ while people are doing what they do every day.

When you bring up an agregator like Democracy Player, it will check to see what's new on ALL your subscriptions and download what you want automatically or you can look through the available stuff and click to get what you want to watch. You can collect a bunch of short vids to watch on your portable media player, your laptop or your PC/Mac or Linux computer.
All this video seeking has become much easier with the latest generation of browsers. FireFox 2 and MSIE 7 both recognize the XML buttons that contain the subscription info to podcasts. Both browsers now present you with a menu showing what's on the feed and allowing you to watch now or subscribe. You don't need to understand or care about RSS anymore!
Podcast directories on the web
These sites may be the best choice for may with the caveat that once you subscribe to a 'cast, you may not have the right player(s) installed.
There are a lot of podcast sites, but
Pocast.com is the best I've found feature-wise. It's nice to look at, easy to use and very good at finding interesting things and describing them fully.
If you check one site, make it this one. This is the state of the art.My own conclusion
This whole revolution is well worth watching and I'm looking forward to the day when a lot of good material will be available. When I find it, I will try to come back and post it here.
