IMO it would be nice to have to old format where responses to a thread could e responded to individually, similar to what it was maybe 5 years ago. I don't know why we ever left that format, maybe licensing or copy-write issues. But that was by far the most workable that I've seen. Any chance of going back?

Whatever works. Will chat room still be available?

Thanks for you efforts here, Robin!

Good question, JB. No change in the chat. That's a completely different operation.

I'm with Dale - change is BAD!!!

That said, it seems pretty reasonable that an update would be needed after all these years.

I agree a change is a good idea but I am not at all keen on that site that Robin posted here.

Okay, thanks for your input, all! I'm cutting this loose from the top of the page now. Again, it will probably be a good while before we do this, if we do. There are some tech issues that would have to be resolved before we move forward. But I appreciate your thoughts, and will let everyone know before we move on this or anything like it. :)

To me, security issues trump every other consideration. If the software is insecure, it must be replaced; the only question is with what. Having seen the chaos and destruction wrought by a security breach elsewhere, I'm all for doing whatever's necessary to prevent such a digital Armageddon.

Robin, will loading photos be easier with the new platform? Have to admit I hate posting photos here because it's so darned many steps--Facebook is proof that it doesn't have to be onerous.

Two? What do you know that I don't? 1) I have to re-size the pic in Picasa and export it to a special file, 2) I have to browse to find it when I write my post, then click okay, then upload the file, then place the file inline. That's six steps, takes forever, and god forbid you blow a step and have to start over which I seem to frequently need to do. Lather rinse repeat for additional pics. On Facebook? Select photo (or with additional clicks, more than one) then go, click on a few more while you're at it. DONE.
