WTN: Ksara Lebanon

Short notes from a tasting of Ksara wines from Lebanon at Ralph's Wine Museum.

Blanc de l'Observatoire 2007 - Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Clairette. Crisp. Very dry and light. Sour. Boring.

Blanc de Blancs 2007 - Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chardonnay. Light straw. Nice nose. Very crisp. Very dry. Pleasant.

Ksara Sunset Rose 2007 - Cabernet Franc and Syrah. Light salmon hue. Good fruit. Light. Good.

Le Prieure 2006 - Deep color. Some sulfur on the nose. Quite sweet. Toffee. A bit spicy. Tannic. Easy. Good. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cinsault.

Reserve du Couvent 2006 - Very deep. Quite fruity, tannic. Deep flavor. Good balance. Light to medium weight. Easy. Good length. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc.

Chateau Ksara 2004 - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Deep color. Sweet ripe fruit. A little spicy. Already showing well. Good.

The whites weren't too great. The reds were at least good but nothing to write home about. I guess I was hoping for something more exotic or out of the ordinary.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Interesting notes Jay. I might suggest cross-posting this in Rogov's forum.

Kind of what I thought about Ksara wines. Had the red once as a ringer in a Bordeaux tasting--I'm not sure if it's owner actually believed it would pass or not. The way it showed, it's hard to believe she did.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
