Ripe Pinot fruit and wonderful richness of texture and flavor, but it was walloped over the head with smoky oak that made it taste more like Santa Rita Hills than Vosne Romanee. Malconsorts? More like Malcontent.

I'm with you on the rant but to be fair, fruit from Santa Rita Hills doesn't have to taste lke smoky oak unless it too gets walloped over the head.

True, but it usually is, so that's how I got the association.
