Open up with some barnyard, sweet red fruit , slightly stewed, lots of mineral, some floral which is immensely fragrant! Am I talking 'bout a wine that is older than me? In the palate, it is so integrated, full bodied with vibrant acidity that is soooooo smooth and packed with sweet red fruit again! Finish is only good though, but what more can you ask for at the age of 47?

cheers,
Eric

Eric,

What a treat, 1961 was an incredible year in Barolo. How was that wine colored ? I'm so very jealous here, as I have only a few of my Dad's wines left, including a couple of Battista Rinaldi - Barolo 1961.

Jeff, hi

color is still dark ruby with an orange ting at the rim which looks really healthy to me! Yeah, it was a treat! and the price is very reasonable too, I remember it's about $50 euro.

cheeers,
Eric

Wow, you inherited wine? I'm jealous of BOTH of you!

Jenise,

Yeah, my Dad left a small collection to me, now mostly Barolo, Hermitage and Port. Daddy-O taught me a lot about wine, most importantly to make every bottle that we shared - fun.

I wished my dad is a winelover. He likes wine but not to that degree. I am now planting seeds of wine to my sons !

cheers,

Eric, that's wonderful. How old are your boys?

And Jeff--how lucky lucky lucky. I won't inherit a thing from my father, let alone great wine. The only wine I remember from childhood is jugs of Cribari Chianti.

Jenise,

they are 4 and 9. I just let them smell it and sometimes uses chopstick to dip a drop for my elder one to taste it. Occasonally, I'll take out my Le Nez du Vin 54 and let him smell and identify some of the aromas. He is pertty good at identifying common aromas like fruits and flower. All that just for fun!
