WTN: The Lucky Country Shiraz 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Nov 02, 2008 8:03 pm

Barossa Valley
Two Hands Wines

Decanted about 25 minutes before supper.

Dark purple in the glass, verging on black.

Rich nose, spicy, chocolate, black fruit.

Thick, soft and full in the mouth, peppery, spicy, medium weight, black cherry and blackberries, light drying tannins, rich and staturated, intense, with a big tangy bite.

At first, the wine showed quite a bit of alcohol burn (not surprising, considering that the wine weighs in at 14.7 per cent), but with time, the burn subsidied, although a little bit of roughness and a real bite remained.

Some heat on the finish, along with some drying tannin and pepperiness.

Purchased at $17.95 (Canadian).
