WTN: 2006 Dashe Cellars Zinfandel Louvau Vineyard

by David M. Bueker » Tue Nov 11, 2008 1:53 pm

Served with home made chili (easy on the spice for the in-laws), this was the perfect accompaniment. Supple black and red fruits mingled with slight briary elements and a touch of youthful woody notes were all held together by a seamless structure. There was no trace of heat despite the 14.6% stated alcohol. It reminded me a lot of Ridge but without buttery oak element. Fantastic zin!

David,

Something in the back of my olde brain seems to remember Mike Dashe spent time at Ridge as Asst.Winemaker or some such. Of course, I could be totally wrong about that too.

Maybe 5 years ago, I remember tasting a Todd Bros. Vineyard Zin from Mike which reminded me a lot of a Ridge.

Ravenswood makes a Todd Vineyard Zin, too...I thought it was quite nice.
