WTN: 2001 Trimbach CFE - the safe word is Riesling!

I opened this to check on the condition of a bottle, after reading of less that positive experiences. Well this is indeed a positive experience! Loads of lemons and crushed stones dominate the wine, and the backbone is virtually unyielding. It's delicious in a masochistic way - expressing the innermost depths of Riesling's cutting nature. Drink now if you enjoy having cold cutlery run across your chest, or hold if you prefer something a little less adventurous from your wine.

It is indeed brilliant! What a difference between this and the 2000! Thanks for reminding me that I will have to buy more!

I'm a huge fan of the 2001 CFEs in all three bottlings.

Frederik, I like the 2000 CFE as a more forward bottling, except in small format- I hit 67% premoxed in 375s. All I have left is one mag.

Half bottles of Trimbach wines have been problematic for me as well.

I love the 2000, too. I was just alluding to the stylistic differences.

Half bottles from Trimbach? No way!

I'm 0/2 so far on the 375s
