Tried this w/ Susan Fri night:
1. EdmundsStJohn LesFleurs du Chaparral NapaVlly (TW; Mourv/Carignan/CabSauv; U/U) 1987: Med.dark color w/ little bricking; rather earthy/dusty slight smokey bit plummy/pungent/slight black cherry some cedary/pencilly/oldRed rather earthy/rustic complex nose; bit tart metallic/tangy rather earthy/dusty some plummy/black cherry bit blackcurranty/Cab pretty rustic complex flavor w/ light bit astringent tannins; med.long rustic/earthy/dusty tart/tangy/metallic slight plummy/black cherry/licorice pungent/smokey complex finish w/ light/drying tannins; a rather rough/rustic very earthy/dusty/mountain rugged red w/ little fruit left but still very much alive though starting to dry out a bit; reminds me of a Friuli Merlot or a Languedoc Carignane w/ some age on it.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. According to Steve, this wine was in the WS top 100 the year it was released. As we say in Kansas.."Big whoopey". He felt the alcohol didn't ever integrate on the wine. I didn't notice any alcohol in my btl.
The Mourv & Carignan came from ChesterBrandlin's Ranch. The tiny amount (1/4'th ton) of CabSauv came from TravisFretter's LeakyLake vnyd/SpringMtn. There was a small block that Duckhorn didn't take, so Steve got it.
