WTN: Two Murder Ridge Zins '14....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Feb 08, 2024 4:25 pm

We tried these two Zins at Pig+Fig last night:
1. MurderRidge Zin Wildlands MendoRidge (15.3%; www.MurderRidge.com) Sebastapol 2014: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong blackberry/Zin/spicy some cedary/pencilly/oldZin slight peppery/earthy bit complex nose; tart rather cedary/penclly/oldZin rather earthy/dusty light blackberry/Zin flavor w/ light drying tannins; med.long finish w/ drying-out tannins; not a lot of fruit left & starting its downward spiral.
______________
2. MurderRidge Zin PerliVnyds MendoRidge (15.5%) 2014: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; lovely fragrant very strong blackberry/Zin/very spicy fairly strong toasty/oak classic MendoRidge very fragrant nose; fairly tart very spicy/peppery very strong MendoRidge/sauvage/bit rustic strong peppery/Zin/blackberry fairly rich structured flavor w/ light smooth tannins; fully mature but not showing its age & probably best to be drunk up; quite a classic MendoRidge Zin that resembles some of the DuPratt Zins from MendoRidge.

More mendospurt from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. MurderRidgeWnry is a wnry located in the Southern Wildlands of the Mendo Ridge AVA. I believe it's owned by the people who own Perli Vnyds. The name comes from a Murder of Crows that are found in abundance in the area. It also commemorates the murder back in 1910 of Pete Gianoli who had a vnyd up there in the area. I'm not sure how I heard of MurderRidge but it was probably from Jason & Molly Drew, who buys from Perli.
Their WebSite looks kinda stale & I'm not sure they are still in business.
