WTN: Surprising Rivers-Marie

2012 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard Sonoma Coast
Superbowl libation. Although the bottle had been standing up for a week, the last two inches were a cloudy, confused mess so the decanting process left about quite a bit behind in the bottle. Flavors were initially malty, stewed strawberries. Finally poured a glass at the end of the first quarter: my team (KC) was behind and so was my wine. Fully expected both to tank rapidly from there but instead over the next two hours Mahomes got his game on and so did this wine with bright, darker fruit and interesting secondary nuances. Took my last sip on the final touchdown--score!
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

So neither the wine nor Mahomes are past their prime?
