Wine Focus April 2024: Life is a Cabernet!

by David M. Bueker » Sat Mar 30, 2024 11:48 am

Self-serving topic, as I have too much Cabernet in my cellar for any sane human being!

Not to short change the topic - Cabernet Sauvignon is likely the most noteworthy grape in the entire world, despite the incredible popularity of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Well made in essentially all major wine growing countries it has a distinct character that makes it dominate the stage even if it doesn't dominate a blend. It's a lot like having Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino as the supporting actor in a film - all eyes are trained on them. The "super-Tuscan" wine Tignanello is a great example, with its 10-20% of Cabernet Sauvignon dominating a wine that is otherwise 80+% Sangiovese!

There are an uncountable number of Cabernet Sauvignon options - and only 30 days in April. Should probably do a wine focus quarter rather than a month!
