...have to admit, I laugh at those Lindsay Wagner/Radisson commercials for the Sleep Number Bed. The concept didn't appeal to me in the slightest.

But it must have appealed to a lot of other people, because someone's borrowed the idea to create the Cook Number Grill, and you can buyu it at Costco. "Like your meat rare? You're a 3. Prefer it well done? You're a 9!"

I like my meat perfect, so I cook it myself, over various spots of a charcoal grill so as to achieve the right balance of a seared exterior and a juicy reddish pink interior. I just don't think one could do that on a 5 or 6.

Cook by numbers?! Piffle!

It never fails to amaze me the extent to which people want to abdicate responsibility for learning and knowledge. Anyone who can't figure out rare vs well done on their own probably shouldn't be that close to fire. :)
