Seductive dinner music

This may have been discussed in prior years, but I can't find it.

What music would you recommend for a candlelit romantic dinner and "dessert?" Genre and specific suggestions welcome. No rap, please. Ain't no hos here.

If you can get one them soft, jazzy Bossa Nova CDs with tunes like "Girl from Ipanema" and "Desafinado" and the like ... you know something with João Gilberto, Stan Getz, Astrud Gilberto, and/or Antonio Carlos Jobim and then maybe throw in a little Andrea Bocelli, you might be able to set a mood.

Of course, you can also eat chili with beans and make your own music, too.

[Trust me on this one, OK? Jazz afficianado here and a longtime patron of the Playboy Jazz Festival @ the Hollywood Bowl every June; since 1981.]


It is a compilation of easy Jazz ballads perfect for such an occasion.

Another REALLY good one...

Anita Baker - Rapture, especially "Sweet Love" and "You Bring Me Joy"... incredible voice and emotion.

Seriously now, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman. This has got to be one of the best jazz albums ever recorded.

We used to use the term "panty peeler" but I understand that now it's considered too sexist, so I apologize for even mentioning it.

A long time ago, I found Brahms Second Piano Concerto somehow made girls think in terms of noble adventures and beautiful emotions. Probably that tells you a lot about the girls I was hanging out with then. Probably Miles Davis Blue in Green, the whole album (CD).
