King Arthur baking class

An ad in our paper tells of a series of King Arthur Flour bread baking classes in Albuquerque. I plan on going to the "Crusty Artisan Breads" class. Anyone else have any experience with these classes?

I went to a ton of them in their prior incarnation. Good stuff. Not quite sure how they run them these days, but back in the '90s they offered a lot of real content.

I went to the artisinal bread class last night, which was excellent. I picked up a few tips. So if the free class comes to your area, I'd recommend it.

The demonstrator made baguettes, boules, an epi, and whatever you call the one in a bannetone. She used a lame to slash the bread. I have one, and I think it sucks, but different strokes (no pun intended).

The only downside is that I didn't win a door prize. :cry: One woman brought two young children and they each won a particularly coveted prize. Not exactly fair in my mind; the mother had three chances, in effect.

One of the things I hated at the classes was the door prizes - never won one (and didn't really care), but it was always stunning how people who were related/came together usually won multiple prizes. It happened every time.

The entire front row on my side of the class won door prizes. Makes you wonder about odds.
