Ms. Ray's....oven...

I am not here to discuss her merits.

But I love that oven she's got in the kitchen. Ever see that broiler?

I love gas stoves.

I am jealous.

The broiler's a hoot. What kind of stove is that, anyway?

Rachael's yellow oven is a vintage Chambers oven, circa 1950 and probably model 90c.

Hmmm....I don't know about all that bending down, keeping the top of the broiler very clean as to avoid smoking of off flavors. I am not a fan of gas ovens or broilers, as as Rachael says, "I burn alot of things", as I am sure I would if I had that stove.

Had a Chambers oven - bought and installed it myself - in my home in California. Loved it. That was in the 70s - early 80s.

I had a Chambers stainless steel gas cook top. I think their products were the legitimate precursers of professional level stoves and ovens before the real pros got into the game.
Loved it, it lasted for 25 years before it was literally worn out. Replaced it with a Viking, which cooks just as well and has more burners--but somehow I think the Viking has been "dumbed down" for the suburbanite, and I don't think it will last as long as that Chambers stove.
