This is my new thing to play with. I love this stuff and it makes a KILLER vinaigrette.

I've seen this around - now that I want some, I wonder if I can find it. Do you add anything to the vinaigrette other than EVOO?
I bought a Stevia plant the other day. It is a beautiful little plant with dark green leaves and small white flowers. Stevia is a natural plant based sweetner and I use it instead of Equal or Sweet and Low. The plant tag said to use the leaves in green salads or fruit salads. I'd like to try it with the blood orange vinegar.

Yippee, our local Raley's had four types for me to choose from. I got the Blood Orange and the Riesling. I love playing with new vinegars and oils.

This vinegar is very good. I used baby spring lettuces, purple leaf lettuce, artickoke hearts, grape tomatoes, stevia leaves, parsley, sweet basil, and the vinaigrette you suggested. It was lovely with a shrimp, scallop pasta dish. As suggested on the bottle, I am drizzling it over some steamed broccoli and cauliflower tonight. It was also suggested using it over ice cream.

Robert J.,

Thank you very much for drawing our attention to this item. I was unable to find it locally, so I purchased a bottle* on the internet from the distributor.

You are right. This stuff is very good. So good in fact that I made a spinach salad with this for my girlfriend this morning. She looked at me like I was a lunatic for serving her salad for breakfast but once she tasted it she was hooked. I used your recipe but added some shallots and also topped the salad with goat cheese. Great combination all around of flavors, textures and aromas.

Thanks again for the tip.

*The bottle I received is not as fancy as Robert J's bottle in the picture. It is a clear, plastic wine bottle shaped bottle that is about one litre and with a different label. Odd, but maybe this is how they package it for the non-commercial market.

Dave, I'm glad that you got some and that you like it. I do all kinds of stuff with that basic vinaigrette recipe; I'll add garlic or shallots or cumin or, well, you get the idea.

Hey, next time you are in Austin drop by one morning and make me that salad, will you?

Let me be perfectly clear, Dave. ALL I want is the salad.

ROTFLOL! Actually, we were on the sofa watching a movie before bed and when I went to make my move she was fast asleep. I carried her up to bed and that was the end of the evening. My guess at the time was that she had an iron deficiency.

I already have the black fig vinegar, which is nirvana. On your recco, just ordered the blood orange. Thanks!
