I've always liked Spam. I prefer the reduced sodium version. And it goes well with Meridian wine.

The price of Spam is up too, with the average 12 oz. can costing about $2.62. That's an increase of 17 cents, or nearly 7 percent, from the same time last year.

At $3.49 per pound it's more expensive than a lot of fresh meats. Bet it costs more in Hawaii, though.

I see the price of fresh meats at our old-fashioned, locally owned butcher shop every week when they run specials. Last year, a ten pound bag of connected leg/thighs of chicken was .69 a pound. I'm sure it will be more this year, but why eat Spam? You can buy a whole chicken on sale, grind up your own burger. Wish I had my paper from Tuesday here, but often, you can buy meat at 1.29, 1.69, etc. all less than a can of that Spam....which is not such a healthy choice.
