This is the well-pickled fruitcake thread, Paulo. Do you fit that category?

Mr. 1K, I got your cake today and I must say that I couldn't resist a teensy, weensy bite. That baby ROCKS! I think that you did far better than I this year. My hat's off to you. Thanks, amigo.

I am very happy that it got there ok, and that you liked it, considering it's the first fruitcake I have made in close to 15 years. I haven't yet cut into yours, but I am sure that it will be great!

Gail and I decided tonight that Cowboy's fruitcake had aged enough, so we cut a piece. We like it - moist and dense, like a fruitcake should be, with a definite kick from the booze, and a delicious flavor. I've gotta try to cut back on all these holiday foods, though, as some of my pants are getting uncomfortably snug in the waistline!  New Year's means it's back on the WeightWatchers wagon.

Thanks, 1K. I made a little mistake this year and accidentally marinated the fruit in ALL of the booze instead of reserving some for the aging process. That is why the texture is a little loose and there is such a kick from the booze. But I'm glad that you like it.

I was the lucky recipient of some of Robert's fruitcake. I had some for Christmas brunch just now. It rocks! Thanks, Cowboy!

Of course, now I can't drive anywhere for the next two days.....
