I'm Back !

Postby Gary Kahle » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:49 am

After a long absence from this BB, I'm back. Some of you might be old enough to remember me. Others will learn that I prefer 'old world' wines, drink as many blancs and roses as red, not a fan of oak abuse. I retired a little over a year ago as a wine broker and currently have NO connection to the importers I was representing so I should be able to discuss any wines with no bias (professional at least). I look forward to posting here again.
Cheers, Gary

David, You can count on it as I'm a huge fan of Rose. I have already picked up four cases (five different wines) from 2011 vintage and will be buying a couple more. I see you are from CT which has to be one of the best Rose markets. I'm coming up later this month for my granddaughter's graduation and will be visiting Harry's in Fairfield. William might have the best selection of Rose that I've seen.

Hi Jon,
Yea that was probably me and I'll bet it was Sterling Cellers in Mahopac. Steve Morrison started with a small shop at the end of Village Center on Rt 6 and over the years has moved two times and is now at other end with a fairly large shop. He is still involved but I think his daughter Amanda is running the store. Their room at back of store is full of 'old and rare' gems.

Hi David,
Yea, I'm glad to see the mid-west catch on to Rose. Fifteen years ago I couldn't give it away! I look forward to tipping a glass with you one of these days.

MoCool would be the perfect venue for you two to get together and share a glass or fifty. Just sayin'...

Good to "see" a familiar face! (perhaps I'll also post a little after being off for quite a while in these parts)
