Montes Alpha 1996 Curico Valley (Chile) Cabernet Sauvignon ($13.99)Inky dark garnet, almost black. Deep cherry-berry fruit showing through a curtain of oak. Full yet austere, black fruit flavors with proper acidic balance and noticeable tannins. Rather "Bordeaux" in style, a good wine that will benefit from a little cellar time. U.S. importer: T.G.L.C. importers, Encino, Calif. (Aug. 19, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: Lamb chops with rosemary, a traditional Cabernet match, help bring it out of its youthful shell.
