Domaine de la Chanteleuserie 1997 Borgueil Vieilles Vignes ($12.99)
Very dark garnet. Fragrant black-pepper and floral rose aromas, pleasant and complex. Bright mixed-berry fruit flavor, dry and tart, surprisingly full-bodied for a Loire Cabernet Franc. Very good wine. U.S. importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, Calif. (Oct. 20, 1999)
FOOD MATCH: The fruity and spicy wine matched nicely with a Czech-style roast chicken stuffed with parsley and caraway seeds.

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
